Hello everyone – Summer is finally here! I’m taking this opportunity to show you how to style, or “casualize” a cocktail dress. As any woman would know, our closets could have quite a few cocktail dresses that gets used once or twice, then doesn’t see the light of day. I hate being wasteful, so I welcome any opportunity to make use of fancier clothes in not-so-fancy situations.
The key to this styling is laying a casual shirt underneath, and slip on some sneakers. It instantly gave this sheer paneled dress a cool, street vibe. This works well with long dresses, too! Why not try layering a graphic t-shirt over a long dress and tie it at the waist?
I’m really loving the pom-pom earrings trend (so what if it’s in Teen Vogue, I’m young at heart :P), and had a pair of pom pom hair ties sitting around, so I threw together these super quick DIY earrings by putting packaging tape around the elastic to make it into a “bar”, and slipping on some ear hoops. It totally works to get a look for a busy mama!
This beautiful pool is located at the Nouvelle apartments in Tysons, VA. See my other post from its gorgeous terrace here.
See you next time! XO
