The knit poncho is one of my favorite styles to wear during this time of the year. I love the free form and the comfort, and was excited to have found this alpaca version from DeNada recently. For added convenience, it even has sleeves! The loose neckline allows this to be worn off-shoulder style – a trend that is still going on strong.
I’m always fond of supporting works by creatives in the DC area, and became familiar with DeNada’s designs and founder Virginia Arrisueño through various fashion and social events. DeNada is an apparel and accessory brand that specializes in handmade knitwear for both women and men. Its aesthetics blend contemporary elements with traditional techniques to offer unique pieces. Influenced by her Peruvian heritage, Virginia designs the collections and collaborates with Peruvian artisans who use traditional knitting methods to hand make the pieces. The line includes knit scarves, gloves and hats, as well as apparel. I love the cool, easy vibe of the designs, and can definitely vouch for the quality of the materials used in these knits!
I love greys during the winter season, and choose the charcoal option out of the four color options (others being blue, camel and black). The drop stitch knit on this also gives a great texture to the front. In this look I styled the poncho with a leather mini skirt and over-the-knee boots, but it would also work great with skinny jeans or leather leggings underneath. For added warmth and a totally different aesthetic, try layering it over a collared poplin shirt!
Thanks for stopping by!
