It’s officially time for new summer wardrobes to come out, and I’m personally psyched to show off pieces for this season! This top from new designer Echtego, A.W.A.K.E. skirt, vintage-inspired sunnies from Vint & York, the most comfortable mules from Bells and Becks, and Off-White bag. The details here are all about linear patterns, draping and bunching accents that make for modern, feminine streetwear looks – and how to add a little edge and summer ease with the right accessories.
As I get older, my tolerance for uncomfortable shoes has gone way down. These flat mules from San Francisco based Bells & Becks are so comfortable that I’ve been wearing them on repeat! What’s distinct about these are their high quality (they’re hand-made in Italy!) at medium price points, as their direct-to-consumer model keeps the lower than brands offering similar quality.
These vintage-inspired sunnies from Vint & York are just the right accessory for this elevated summer look! Not just a sunglasses shop, Vint & York is similar to Warby parker in that you can order prescription glasses in their great selection of vintage-inspired frames. Now that I need to go without glasses for a week in preparation for a PRK eye exam (not cool with my super-nerd high prescription), I might need to get a pair of stylish prescription glasses from here too!
The base of this outfit is an A.W.A.K.E. plaid skirt, which is great for spring through fall. The wool used in the skirt is lightweight which makes it easy to move. It’s handkerchief hem is what really caught my attention, though – the gathering of fabric in various places to create extra draping details is at once modern and contemporary, and the plaid pattern is subtle enough to not become an eyesore. I paired this with Echtego’s “Sydney” top, with its stripes, pleats, and an asymmetric hemline – all accents I love in every season and the perfect piece for my summer looks. The cropped length makes the perfect opening for the skirt’s pouch pocket, and together they’re almost like patterned puzzle pieces. The clean lines and various details in both pieces complement each other, rather than overwhelm, and their distinct tones and draping further accentuate their details together and separately.
Recent porch robberies couldn’t snatch my Off-White bag (Have you seen my IG stories? Speaking of: who’s excited about Virgil Abloh as the new menswear designer of Louis Vuitton?! There has been so much new designer shuffling in fashion this year!), which I absolutely love. Anything from Off-White seems to just add a dose of streetwear edge to any look, and are simultaneously statements and understated. This bag is the perfect crossbody that I can also carry with the leather handle, but still has the brand’s hazard-tape-inspired handle that adds that cool factor to any outfit.
With each piece being statements on their own, together they all fit together to make one harmonious statement-making ensemble – and it’s one that will be in my permanent rotation this summer!
Thanks for stopping by!
