Multifunctional fashion’s been making the rounds lately, and now that it’s summer nothing has more potential than swimwear. This idea started almost a year ago from resort shows at brands like Paco Rabanne, ZImmermann, and Chanel – but Gucci’s new one-piece truly caught my eye. Alessandro Michele’s winning vintage-eclectic aesthetic for Gucci has even translated to this one-piece suit, in the perfect ivory tone with an oversized logo for extra drama.
The suit can be worn as a bodysuit-esque piece, while also being functional as regular swimwear. I’ve worn it to places like the Bahamas for vacation, but it also works as daywear. I even wore it to New York Fashion Week over a sweater for a layering statement!
As it starts heating up outside and there are more events to dress for, it helps to have pieces like this Gucci suit on-hand. That way, I can save myself more time and effort by adding simpler or bolder pieces to it, instead of just treating it as swimwear. Multifunctional fashion is generally a great wardrobe investment-if a piece can have multiple functions, you’re basically getting several garments or outfit bases for one price.
They save us extra time and effort, and can be simply incorporated into lots of looks. This bathing suit, for example, could be easily worn with trousers and sandals or pumps for a simple summer look. For my tastes, I wore it under these green ruffled pants by Viva Aviva – aren’t they fun?
Have a fantastic week!
