“Fashion is about attitude, not hemlines”. – Helmut Lang
Hello stylish friends! The denim trend has gone creative lately – whether it be frayed, color blocked, or embroidered. Today we are featuring experimental denim, and few does it better than Portuguese designers Marques’Almeida. Founded by Central Saint Martins alumni Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida, this UK based label subscribes to Helmut Lang’s school of thought above. Known for their creative denim designs, the rawness and unexpected draping of this top indeed evokes an attitude of unapologetic freedom for me.
In this look I styled the top without anything underneath to show the design of the daring slit (fashion tape necessary!) For an easy, everyday look I have layered underneath a bandeau top or a slip maxi dress with a square neckline, or a denim-on-denim look with wide leg jeans.
I found this great pendent necklace from Snobswap.com boutique partner Chic2Chic, and made it into an earring with the strongest clip I can find to hold its weight. Consignment shopping not only saves you money, but gives you chances to find that one-of-a-kind piece that makes your look unique with personality.
Aren’t these shoes super fun? I love unexpected design elements and the heels of these half booties just make me swoon.
As a closing note, I wanted to thank everyone for all the support you’ve given me for this blog. I’m working constantly to improve this site, and have MANY ideas before taking out of this “beta” phase. Time is scarce, but I’ve enjoyed every moment of posting to this site. I have so many more to share, and hope to see you there along the way! <3
XO,
