As the early 2000’s have come back in style, so have many of their trademarks – like beaded bags, pageboy caps, and, of course, matching denim. However, for the trend’s current reinvention you don’t need to purposefully match your denim, buy a denim set, or even wear similarly-colored denim pieces from the same brand (we all know how that looked on Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears :). Instead, it’s all about coordinating your denim.
For my rendition of the Canadian tuxedo, I chose a vintage jacket with a slim fit, accentuated shoulders and leather sleeves. It’s a sharp contrast to the casual nature of denim. This outfit makes my new Yuzefi bag – which I’ve been wearing everywhere since I bought it – really stand out! I purposely choose a neutral tone for the bag so it would be easy to pair with most outfits.
Wide leg pants are the perfect pairing to a slim fit top!
The outfit needed more texture to really make it stand out. I choose this open-knit, netted top by Beaufille to offset the casual look of the denim and add something modern to the mix – I especially loved its’ scalloped details!
A pair of skinny sunglasses and large hoop earrings (note the symmetry of earrings and metal details on the Yuzefi bag, as pointed out by my intern Aaron’s impeccable eye 😉 pulls the outfit together.
Enjoy the rest of your week!
