The dress-over-pants look is such a fun combination that easily amps up the cool factor of your outfit. It typically works well with a minidress, button-front, asymmetrical or hi-low hem, or a maxi with high slit over cropped pants or shorts. In this outfit, I’m pairing a beachy off-shoulder dress with distressed jeans, but a pair of cool cut-off denim shorts would work well too in this summer heat. This dress is so easy and comfortable, I’ve already worn it so much already this season to the pool, beach and weekend outings!
This Dior bag is from John Galliano’s 2001 Trailer Trash collection, one of my first designer obsessions as I became more aware of my personal style. To this day I still love the design aesthetic, and it’s even better that it reminds me of a period in life that shaped me to who I am today. Fashion is not only about what is trendy, and what makes you look good – but how it makes you feel. If you feel great wearing something special or meaningful, you will glow!
This bag had a shoulder strap on it that made it look dated. To update the look, all it needs is the strap cut off and a chain strap (from another bag) added. I’m always looking around in my – or even my family’s – closet to “treasure hunt” and find pieces I can make use of to create a final work of art. It takes a little bit of creativity, but at the end you get a fun, “new” piece without spending a lot of money! Is there something in your closet now you can repurpose? Why not dig it out and give it a shot?
