Hope everyone had a great weekend! In this post I am wearing one of my all-time favorite dresses – this Rick Owens minimalistic piece with yards of tulle. When shopping, I am most attracted to designs that depict work of art, and not many do modern art as fashion better than Rick Owens.
Originally from California and now based in Paris, Rick Owen’s collections show more as an art exhibit with not-so-subtle messaging, which makes him one of the most inspirational designers for those in the fashion industry. You may recall the men’s collection from previous fall/winter with the jaw dropping way of exhibiting “freedom”. Or the hairball masks in the latest FW2016 runways. These moments, and shows from designers such as Thom Browne and the late Alexander McQueen, are what makes me love fashion so much. It’s not just about putting on pretty clothes – it’s art, imagination, and innovation and communication. While I’m currently really digging the sculptural looks of designers such as Delpozo and Rosie Assoulin, deep down I’m an avant-garde girl and wouldn’t mind looking like Daphne Guinness everyday 😉
This is another super easy DIY choker (previous DIY choker here) made with a ribbon I bought from M&J Trimmings a few years back. I was inspired to try this after seeing the choker scarfs on Dior’s Spring 2016 runway. This trim came as a one-piece so all I had to do is fold down the extra tulle material and secure in the back with a safety pin. The leather jacket below with oversized hood is also another signature look of Rick Owens.
About the Location
This beautiful terrace is at the Nouvelle, a new residential complex located in Tysons Corner. With the Silver metro line now in place, this area has boomed and even for a city dweller like me, it was nice to enjoy the serenity and ambience of this neighborhood. The floor-to-ceiling windows, gorgeous terrace and pool area (stay tuned for the pool-side post) and being dangerously close to Tysons Galleria makes this LEED Silver Certified building a trendy fashionista’s dream. If you’re looking for chic living in a convenient Northern Virginia location, check it out!
