‘Tis the season to get some vitamin D! Being from Taiwan, I’ve been trying to avoid getting sunshine most of my life, but that part of me is over. Lately I’ve enjoyed basking in the sun especially after learning about vitamin D deficiency, and I do so in this post while donning a trendy slip dress with plenty of areas to soak up the healthy rays.
This is a romantic look that’s great for a date night. I will admit, the romantic/girlie look is not typically my style, but I’m opening to trying out different looks for fun. This pajama/slip dress look is trending hard, and I would wear this once or twice for the thrill but not much more than that. Fashion is about what makes you feel good, no matter what the look is. With a wide choker, faux fur shrug and fun bag with giant tassels, I toned down the girlishness of this outfit and made it more my own. Obviously I’m a bit behind with my posts – at the time we shot this, a little faux fur was still applicable 😛
The location of this was about a block away from Union Market – a super hip, trendy gourmet food market full of DELICIOUSNESS. I would know, since I’m there sometimes 3 times a week 😀 What’s so interesting about this area, as with most gentrified neighborhoods of urban cities, is the juxtaposition of old and new, historic and modern, edginess and refinement. Union Market (and the amazing Masseria – stay tuned for future posts shot there) are surrounded by these old warehouse markets. To the modern city dweller, these warehouses may seem intimidating and unrefined – but they are legit businesses which supply to enormous amount of restaurants and food industries in the city. An enthusiastic neighbor took us on a tour of these markets one day, and it was as if I was in a different city or country. Freshly butchered goat, anyone? Big bottle of coconut water for $2? Yup, it’s all here. While I’m picky about the quality of what goes into my belly (no grass-fed or organics here), these businesses do serve an important part of the city’s food chain. It would be interested to see where they go, as this neighborhood rebuilds.
See you back soon!
